Coty

Coty fragrances and colognes is a cosmetics brand founded by François Coty in 1904. Born Joseph Marie François Spottorne, a native of Corsica, he moved to Paris and adopted the now-common name François Coty, with "Coty" being a variant of his mother's maiden name. Initially a secretary, he studied perfumery under a local apothecary and embarked on what he hoped would be a revolution in the perfume industry, which had remained largely unchanged since the 19th century.
